A large portion of the adult population may experience brown spots on their face, chest, hands or other parts of the body because of continued exposure to the sun.  Pigmented areas may also arise due to aging.  Lumecca is a superior IPL treatment compared to other devices as patients can expect to see results in 1-3 treatments compared to the standard 4-6 treatments.

  • What is Lumecca?
Lumecca is an intense pulsed light treatment (IPL) targeted at pigmented and vascular lesions in order to improve the complexion and clarity of the skin.  Lumecca uses photothermolysis in order to provide a photo facial.  Lumecca can also be used to address rosacea and freckles.
  • What areas can be treated?
Lumecca is safe to use on almost all parts of the body.  Sun exposure typically occurs to the face, neck, décolletage, legs, hands and arms, making these areas commonly targeted areas for a Lumecca treatment.
  • What to expect during Lumecca treatment ?
Before getting your Lumecca treatment it is essential to avoid sun exposure or tanning one month prior to treatment.  Patients have described the Lumecca treatment as a light elastic sensation.  Patients should expect a warming of the skin during treatment.  This warming sensation typically subsides within an hour of the Lumecca treatment.  The targeted areas typically darken in the following 24-48 hours after treatment.  In the weeks afterwards, the pigmented lesions typically flake off, leaving an even skin tone.
  • How many sessions are required?
Depending on the targeted region, skin tone, and skin damage, multiple sessions may be required for superior results.

  • How quickly can I see results?
You can expect to see improvements in your skin a few days after the first session.  After 1-2 weeks you can expect more significant improvements leaving your skin looking younger.
  • Side effects?
Patients typically do not experience any side effects after their Lumecca treatment.  Any redness of the skin subsides within several hours of treatment and is not permanent.  In order to take proper care of the skin after Lumecca treatment it is highly recommended to avoid any sunlight.
